Accommodation Details

On UBC Campus
(All prices are per night in Canadian Dollars, and include breakfast).

(A) Gage Towers dorm-style rooms (@$54/night) ((5 minutes walk from conference venue) with single beds (4 people sharing 2 bathrooms, with a common kitchen space — much nicer that Kzoo, for context). We have block-booked 40 of these rooms (ten 4 person pods).  They will be available until all are booked. Once 40 are booked, there may be more rooms available, but that is not guaranteed (please let me know if they seem to be all booked up!)  You may request specific pod-mates.

A link to book these block-booked rooms can be found below. The rooms are NOT air-conditioned, but Vancouver’s summer tends to be somewhat mild, so there it is quite possible that you will not need this.

These dorm-style rooms can be booked through this link.  Reservations for these block booked dorm rooms can be made until July 15th.

Guests are also welcome to contact our Reservations Office at (Toll-Free) 1 888 822 1030 to make a reservation.

The booking link currently is set up to allow bookings from the evening of Tuesday 16th August to Friday 19th August (check out Sat 20th August).  If you would like to add extra days either before of after the conference, you may have to contact the reservations office.

Other on campus options:

(B) Double studio suites at The Pond (@$135 / night) (5 minutes walk from conference venue). Near hotel-quality double rooms (1 double bed), with small kitchenette and private bathroom.

(C) Studio (@$145/night) or One bedroom Suites (@$175/night) at Gage Towers ((5 minutes walk from conference venue).

Option B and C can be booked on the ubcsuites site.

These may be an especially good option if you are traveling with a partner (or wish to have a bit more comfort/privacy).

Off Campus

There are, of course, many hotels for those wishing to stay in Downtown Vancouver (20 minutes by taxi, approx. CAN $25 one way, or 25 mins by bus, approx. $2.75 one way), which can be booked through your own endeavours (please ask if you would like advice).

AirB&B, of course, offer a range of accommodation. Book at your own risk, of course.
